Why did I make Monarch Butterflies? Monarch Butterflies disregard borders and migrate from southern Canada and the USA to Mexico. When I lived in California (2011-2015), I would take my kids to the Eucalyptus Groves at Natural Bridges State Park to see the monarchs migrate. It was a beautiful thing to see, truly transcendent. It was so significant that my mom planned a trip (from Canada to California) to see the butterfly migration.
When I began to brainstorm what I would make to fundraise, I thought of the Monarch Butterfly. The instincts and endurance of the butterflies are incredible. Their journey is sacred. What ICE is doing in the USA is something I cannot abide by. It is wrong.
All money from the sale of the butterflies will go directly to Latinos En Spokane. Each butterfly costs $22 and all of those dollars will be donated. I'll share receipts on IG and save them in a folder for transparency.
