"From my rotting body, flowers shall grow and I in them, and that is eternity." - Edvard Munch
This piece is inspired by the above quote that I read in the Edvard Munch museum in Oslo, Norway. In my past religion, the after life was clearly laid out. When I left that belief system, I was no longer sure about what happened when we die. Initially that was a cause of intense worry until I learned that death could be what I wanted it to be - no one actually knows what happens when we die. Since that realization, I've remained curious to know how others view death. And then I take what I want and leave the rest.
I love the imagery of flowers growing from a body - new life from death and I couldn't shake this art piece from my mind. It was therapeutic to make. If this resonates with you, I hope you'll consider bringing her home.
